Turkish authorities have confirmed that they have found the fingerprints of the Reina night club attacker, deputy prime minister Numan Kurtulmus told local media on Monday. CNN Turk also published a video of the attacker at passport control.
Kurtulmus decribed the attack that took place in the early hours of the new year, as aimed against Turkey’s successes in fighting the Islamic State group in Syria. He promised that his country will bring all violent groups “to their knees.”
The deputy prime minister added that the state of emergency in Turkey will last as long as it is necessary in order to fight terror. The state of emergency was first introduced after the failed military coup in July.
At least 39 people were killed in the night club attack in Istanbul and more were injured. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.
