Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu (pictured) in an interview with the Haberturk TV channel described statements by the opposition in Turkey advocating for the country to join sanctions against Russia as risky for Turkey's economy and energy.
Cavusoglu said that the opposition's statements were not in Ankara's interests and that it was necessary to take a balanced approach to international relations. He warned that imposing sanctions against Moscow could harm Turkey.
Since Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in February last year, Turkey has attempted to balance its relations with Russia and the West and is currently working on the TurkStream gas pipeline project with Moscow.
