Former European Council President Donald Tusk and leader of the centrist coalition Civic Platform (PO) got the approval from the Polish Parliament to be officially appointed as the new prime minister of the eastern European country after current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki lost a confidence vote with 190 votes in favor and 266 against.
Tusk, who served already as Prime Minister during the 2007-2014 period, is expected to introduce his cabinet as early as Tuesday and to start moving forward with his agenda that comprises independence of the judiciary, anti-abortion laws, and the EU budget.
Previously, he said to be "working… on a whole set of measures that will restore the rule of law as much as possible."
