Meta Platforms Inc.'s Facebook banned state-owned media from Russia to advertise and monetize on the social media platform "anywhere in the world."
"We also continue to apply labels to additional Russian state media. These changes have already begun rolling out and will continue into the weekend," Nathaniel Gleicher, the head of the company's security policy tweeted. Russia limited access to the social media website earlier in the day over the restrictions Facebook imposed on Russian media.
Meanwhile, Twitter suspended "advertisements in Ukraine and Russia to ensure critical public safety information is elevated and ads don't detract from it." It is also looking into potential instances of manipulation and "inauthentic behavior" and taking "enforcement action" against "false or misleading depiction" of events.
