Twitter Inc. has dissolved its Trust and Safety Council, which was formed in 2016 to help the company address problems on its platform, like hate speech and harassment, without reviewing content disputes. In an internal email, the social media giant informed the panel that it is no longer "the best structure" for the company.
"Our work to make Twitter a safe, informative place will be moving faster and more aggressively than ever before and we will continue to welcome your ideas going forward about how to achieve this goal," the company noted in the email, adding that it plans to "continue to explore opportunities to provide focussed and timely input" into its work.
Several weeks ago, Twitter's former head of Trust and Safety, Yoel Roth, said the company is understaffed and that it can no longer properly address its safety concerns.
