Twitter owner Elon Musk confirmed on Friday that his recently-acquired social media platform would be launching reworked "verified" labels in a week.
According to the billionaire, company accounts will receive a gold checkmark, government institutions a grey one, while the accounts of individuals regardless of being celebrities will be marked blue. "All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates. Painful, but necessary," Musk shared in a Twitter reply.
Earlier, Musk said that all suspended accounts would receive "amnesty" on the condition that they haven't breached any laws or were engaged in spam. The Twitter account of former United States Donald Trump was also reinstated.
