British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves reacted on Thursday to a quarterly rise of 0.6% in the country's gross domestic product (GDP) by describing the figures as evidence of a "challenge inherited from the Conservatives."
"We are under no illusion as to the scale of the challenge we have inherited from the Conservatives after more than a decade of low growth and a £22 billion black hole in the public finances. That's why we are taking the tough decisions now to fix the foundations of our economy," she tweeted.
Previously, her predecessor Jeremy Hunt insisted the report will show the success the Tories achieved in lowering inflation and strengthening the economy and urged Reeves not to raise taxes.
