United Kingdom Foreign Minister and a contender to replace outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, is likely to classify China as a "threat" to national security, The Times reported on Monday. In the case of Truss becoming prime minister, China would be declared a "systemic contender" to the UK.
Truss has previously promised to reform foreign policy, and take a different approach to the integrated review published last year, which focused on UK diplomacy and security for the next 10 years.
Truss' method would mark a deterioration in Sino-British relations, as China would be elevated to the same status as Russia, that of "acute threat" to the UK's national security.
