UK's industrial production down 0.6% in April

Production output in the United Kingdom decreased by 0.6% in April compared to the previous month, the Office for National Statistics revealed in its report on Monday.

According to the data, manufacturing and mining and quarrying mostly contributed to the fall, declining by 1% and 0.8% respectively, on a monthly basis. Meanwhile, water supply and sewerage increased 1.7%, and electricity and gas rose by 0.6%.

In the three months to April, total production increased 0.1% compared to the previous three-month period.
