The UK and EU have not agreed on the Northern Ireland Protocol; however, technical talks are anticipated to resume in the coming days, PoliticsHome's anchor Adam Payne reported Monday.
"The UK and EU have not reached an agreement on the Northern Ireland Protocol, say sources on both sides. But the mood music is certainly positive and technical talks are expected to resume in the coming days," Payne said on Twitter.
The report comes in tandem with comments by Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, who previously said he has "some cautious optimism" about the relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom with Liz Truss as prime minister. However, several peers in the United Kingdom's House of Lords voiced concerns about the Northern Ireland Protocol bill and are considering ways to stop it.
