The United Kingdom and the United States are said to be planning joint airstrikes on Houthi military positions in Yemen in the coming hours, The Times political editor Steven Swinford disclosed on Thursday evening.
According to the Swinford, Britain's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak informed the Cabinet of "imminent military intervention" planned for this evening. Namely, Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer and House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle have also been briefed on the matter.
Washington previously hinted that it plans to take measures to protect shipping in the Red Sea following the recent rise in attacks on commercial vessels by Yemen's Houthi rebel group. Namely, the planned military action by London and Washington will come in retaliation for the attack aimed at US and UK warships last Tuesday.
