UK envoy: Israel must be targeted and precise

The United Kingdom's Ambassador to the United Nations Barbara Woodward stated on Friday that Israel must accomplish its goal of defense against Hamas "terrorism" in a "precise" and "targeted," manner so as to avoid further civilian casualties.

While speaking at the United Nations Security Council, Woodward also added that the number of civilian casualties in Gaza is "shocking" and called for the protection of civilians.

She commented on Israel's announcements of new settlements in the occupied West Bank, saying such approvals will only raise tensions when the world should be focused on de-escalation.
