UK gov't approves Luton Airport expansion

London's Luton Airport received on Thursday the British government's permission to expand.

Luton Rising, which owns the airport, said in its statement that such a move will lead to "significant economic, employment and social benefits for our town." The company's plan is to increase Luton's capability to 32 million passengers by 2043, almost double the present-day amount.

Previously, the government granted the same permission to Heathrow Airport.
