UK industrial production down by 0.5% in September

Production output in the United Kingdom declined by 0.5% in September compared to the previous month, the Office for National Statistics reported on Friday.

According to the report, the biggest contributor to the decrease in industrial production was manufacturing, which fell by 1% compared to the August figure. Other contributors were electricity and gas, which fell by 1.9%, and water supply and sewerage, which slipped by 0.7%. On the other hand, mining and quarrying rose by 03.7% month-on-month.

In the three months to September, total production output dropped by 0.2% compared to the previous three-month period.
