Production output in the United Kingdom declined 0.2% in February on a monthly basis, the Office for National Statistics revealed in its report on Thursday. The figure was down 3.1% year over year.
The monthly fall was mainly driven by production contraction in electricity and gas, which slid 2.2%, and in supply and sewerage, which decreased 1.3%. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying increased 3%.
In the three months to February, production output dipped 0.1% compared to the previous three-month period, as mining and quarrying tumbled 4.5%. Meanwhile, electricity and gas gained 0.7% and water supply and sewerage rose 1.2%.
