Annual inflation in the United Kingdom reached 3.6% in June, rising from 3.4% in the previous month, the UK Office for National Statistics said in its report on Wednesday.
The acceleration was driven by higher transport costs, which were partially offset by the downward contribution of housing and household services.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3% in the reported month, while the Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) advanced 4.1% annually, and 0.3% month-over-month.
