Mortgage approvals for house purchases in the United Kingdom fell to 65,500 in February, down from 66,100 registered in January, the Bank of England announced in a report published on Monday.
Approvals for remortgaging decreased to 32,000 in February from 32,800 registered a month prior. Consumer credit was at £1.4 billion in February compared to £1.7 billion recorded in January, with the annual growth rate for all consumer credit stable at 6.4%.
The effective rate on new personal loans to individuals rose by 12 basis points to 8.91%, while individuals borrowed £3.3 billion of mortgage debt.
