The United Kingdom government announced on Tuesday that it will increase the National Living Wage by nearly 10%, from £10.42 to £11.44 per hour, a raise equivalent to approximately £1,800 per year for a full-time employee.
The government said in a press release that this "is the biggest cash increase in the National Living Wage in more than a decade and fulfills the government's manifesto pledge to end low pay for those on the National Living Wage." Additionally, 21-year-old workers will have a 12.4% rise, from £10.18 to £11.44 an hour.
According to the government, these increases will be effective from April 2024.
