UK reports explosion near vessel in Yemeni waters

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Monday that it received a report of an explosion occurring "in close proximity" to a merchant vessel 54 nautical miles northwest of Al Mukha, Yemen.

Furthermore, the agency confirmed that the vessel involved in the incident had sustained damage and that the crew members were reported to be safe "and proceeding to the next port of call."

As a precautionary measure, the UKMTO advised all ships to "transit with caution and report any suspicious activity."
