United Kingdom's retail sales volumes grew by 3.9% in September year over year, the Office for National Statistics revealed in a report published on Friday. The reading was above analyst expectations.
Month on month, the figure was up 0.3%, with non-food store sales volumes, increasing 2.5%. In addition, online sales volumes rose 1.3%. This was offset by a fall of 2.4% in supermarket sales volumes.
In the three months to September, retail sales volumes added 1.9% compared to the previous quarter and gained 2.6% on an annual basis.
