UK set to ban TikTok on government devices

British Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden is expected to announce on Thursday a ban on the Chinese social media app TikTok on all government devices.

According to a report published by BBC, Dowden will officially unveil the measure before the MPs later in the day, citing security risks related to collecting and handling users' data by the Chinese government.

Similar actions against the Chinese social media platform took place in the European Union, the United States and Canada in recent months.
