The United Kingdom's total goods and services deficit, excluding precious metals, fell by £10.2 billion in the three months ending with March 2023 to £15.1 billion, the Office for National Statistics said in a report published on Friday.
In the first quarter, the goods deficit went down by £8.9 billion to £55 billion, with imports of goods decreasing by £12 billion or 7.5%, and exports of goods declining by £3.1 billion or 3.2% compared to the previous three-month timeframe.
The services surplus increased by £1.3 billion to £39.8 billion in the same period. Exports were 2% or £2.1 billion lower, while imports declined £3.4 billion or 5%.
