The British Public and Commercial Services (PCS) Union stated on Friday that its members working in ports, borders and all areas of transport will go on strike. The union said it agreed on a "program of hard-hitting, targeted action" starting in mid-December after failed negotiations with the Cabinet Office this week.
Around 100,000 civil servants voted for action last week, asking for a 10% pay rise, pensions justice, job security and no cuts to redundancy terms. The union warned that it has a "significant strike fund" to support its members "for a sustained period and carry the campaign on into 2023 if necessary."
