The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed in a report published on Tuesday that the unemployment rate in the United Kingdom was 4.2% in the three months to June, lower than in the previous quarter and the same quarter a year ago.
According to the report, the employment rate for people aged 16 to 64 was estimated at 74.5% in the three months to June 2024, below estimates from a year ago but increasing in the latest quarter.
During the reported period, the number of job vacancies decreased by 26,000 from May to July 2024, totaling 884,000. In Great Britain, the annual growth in employees' average regular earnings (excluding bonuses) was 5.4% from April to June 2024, while the annual growth in total earnings (including bonuses) was 4.5%.
