The unemployment rate in the United Kingdom remained at 4.7% in the three months to June, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Tuesday. The reading came in line with analysts' estimates and was unchanged from the previous month.
The employment rate was estimated at 75.3%, higher than the rate in the previous three-month period. Economic inactivity remained at 21%.
The estimated number of vacancies from May to July 2025 was 718,000, a decrease of 44,000 from the previous quarter. During the same period, the average annual growth in employees' earnings in Great Britain was 5.0% for regular earnings (excluding bonuses) and 4.6% for total earnings (including bonuses).
