The British Ministry of Defence on Sunday said that in Russia's Pskov Oblast, near the Estonian border, the governor organized volunteer security patrols aimed at preventing further drone attacks on the Kresty air base.
Approximately 800 citizens have reportedly signed up to participate in these patrols. The volunteer security patrols, consisting of groups of 50 people divided among multiple municipalities, will focus on patrolling border areas and critical infrastructure, particularly airports and airbases.
"The creation of these volunteer security patrols will likely act as a deterrence and provide a level of defence against quadcopter UAVs being operated from the immediate vicinity of the air base," the ministry said.
