United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged Israeli authorities to "avert humanitarian catastrophe" after its army ordered 1.1 million Palestinians to leave the northern part of Gaza City, spokesperson Stephane Dujarric (pictured) told reporters on Friday.
"It is clear to us that the clock is ticking," the spokesperson stressed, revealing that no humanitarian aid can enter the Gaza Strip at this time as border crossings remain closed, adding that even UN supplies "have hit the bottom of the barrel." "It is vital that Israeli authorities protect all civilians," Dujarric underscored. The spokesperson also called for an investigation into the incident that left at least one journalist killed in southern Lebanon earlier today.
Earlier today, the United Nations (UN) Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced it would relocate its central operations to the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
