United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland condemned the killing of Al Jazeera’s journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank on Wednesday seeking a thorough investigation into the case.

The journalist was shot dead while covering Israeli security forces' operation in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank. "According to the information we have gathered, it appears likely that armed Palestinians, who were firing indiscriminately at the time, were responsible for the unfortunate death of the journalist," stated Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennet.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health also reported another journalist Ali Al Samudi was shot in the incident but is now recovering. Al Jazeera Media has accused Israeli security forces of intentionally killing its veteran reporter.
