UNRWA head: Gaza hunger 'man-made'

United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini underlined on Monday during a press conference in Cairo that the hunger in Gaza is "man-made."

Lazzarini went on to say that there is a way to reverse these effects and "flood" the Gaza Strip with food through crossings.

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell previously accused Israel of provoking a famine in the area by preventing humanitarian aid from entering.

Israel shells areas in Gaza Strip
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shelled areas in the south and north of the Gaza Strip, including the Zeitoun neighbourhood in Gaza City, the Quds News Network reported.
