UNRWA warns of dire winter conditions in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) raised alarm on Monday over the dire situation facing people living in "makeshift tents" in Gaza, especially in the wake of severe winter storms.

"Hundreds of families in Deir al-Balah and North Gaza have been affected, with hundreds of tents destroyed and several households displaced," the agency said. In response, UNRWA has been distributing essential supplies, including tents, tarps, and blankets. However, basic supplies such as warm clothing remain scarce.

The challenging circumstances are worsened by the mass return of Palestinians who were displaced by the Israeli attacks. Many now find themselves living in tents alongside the rubble of destroyed buildings in Gaza City, as most of the region's infrastructure has been devastated by Israel.
