The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reported on Tuesday that 14,500 children have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of Israeli strikes since October 2023, with UNICEF noting one child dies every hour.
Taking on X, UNRWA described this as a profound tragedy, emphasizing the devastating physical and emotional scars left on survivors. The agency urged immediate action to prevent further loss of innocent lives, stressing that "killing children can never be justified." "These are not numbers. These are lives cut short … The clock is ticking for these children. They are losing their lives, their futures & mostly their hope," UNRWA added.
According to the latest update of the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, the total death toll from the conflict since October 7, 2023, in the territory has reached 45,338, with 107,764 injured.
