Washington and Beijing are said to be discussing a possible visit of Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng to Washington, sources told The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
Insiders revealed that both countries are in the process of arranging a visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi next month, which could lay the groundwork for a potential summit between President Xi Jinping and his American counterpart, Joe Biden.
According to the people familiar with the matter, United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan engaged in discussions earlier this month with the Chinese foreign minister concerning the case of American soldier Travis King, who safely returned to the US after crossing the military demarcation line into North Korea, with Beijing facilitating the transfer of the soldier.
