The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is planning to ban all sales of new Huawei and ZTE telecommunications equipment in the US due to national security concerns, Axios reported citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the sources, the FCC's measures will also target three more Chinese video surveillance makers: Hytera Communications Corporation, Hikvision and Dahua Technology Company. The ban would not be retroactive, so the companies would still be allowed to sell older equipment that has already been approved in the US.
Hikvision commented on the report, insisting it "presents no security threat" to the US and there is "no technical or legal justification" for it to be affected by the new rules.
