The temporary pier that the United States built to boost humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip may be dismantled as soon as next month, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing aid organizations which were briefed on the matter by US military officials.
According to the report, US officials expect that this decision will pressure Israeli authorities to open additional routes in order to allow more humanitarian aid to enter the war-torn enclave.
The Biden Administration initially projected that the pier would be inoperable as early as September due to the sea surge.
