US, Iran may meet directly if first talks go well

United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi could have direct talks later if the first phase of the negotiations between their countries goes well, Axios reported on Saturday.

According to the publication's source, the two diplomats could meet later on Saturday or Sunday if the ongoing talks in Muscat, Oman, end on a positive note.

The talks between the US and Iran that are currently taking place were previously confirmed as indirect.
