The United States, Ukraine, and Israel are in talks to supply Kiev with up to eight Patriot air defense systems to improve their capability to counter Russian air strikes, The Financial Times reported on Thursday, citing five people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, talks are still ongoing. The plan is to send the systems first to the United States and then to Ukraine. However, the units that are supposed to be shipped have not been discontinued due to concerns that tension with Hezbollah could lead to war.
So far, Israel has been cautious about taking sides in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, given Moscow's influence in Syria, where the Israeli air force often targets Iranian proxies.
