The United States and Russia agreed to expand dialogue related to restoring bilateral ties and to address the issue of the size of the former country's diplomatic staff in Moscow, according to a readout from the State Department.

"The United States raised concerns regarding access to banking and contracted services," the State Department said. Furthermore, the two countries "identified concrete initial steps to stabilize bilateral mission operations in these areas."

Russia agreed to another meeting with the US diplomatic delegation to address these issues, the statement read. Diplomatic teams from the US and Russia met in Istanbul on Thursday, a little more than a week after the initial high-profile meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
