South Korea said Tuesday it is continuing talks with the United States to resolve its inclusion on the US Department of Energy’s Sensitive and Other Designated Countries List (SCL). The foreign ministry confirmed the list appears to have taken effect this week and remains a sensitive issue between the allies.
"We have been actively engaging in negotiations, including working-level consultations," the ministry said, adding both sides agreed to address the matter "promptly."
Former President Joe Biden's administration added South Korea to the list in early January, grouping it with countries like North Korea, China and Russia.
