The United States Department of the Treasury stated on Friday it had started distributing aid in the value of $15 billion to airlines to help them overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The department confirmed the funds would be distributed between Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Republic Airways, SkyWest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and United Airlines.

"The Payroll Support Program provided critical support to the aviation industry and its workers," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said. "The extension of this program will provide additional economic relief for workers, while also protecting taxpayer funds."
