Turkey's new Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan (pictured), discussed Sweden's NATO membership and the Ukrainian grain deal initiative in a phone conversation with United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Thursday.
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Blinken congratulated Fidan on his recent appointment that followed a post-election overhaul of the Turkish cabinet. The two leaders also discussed the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as Turkey's intent to purchase F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits from the US.
Both ministers expressed readiness for another meeting as soon as possible, according to Russian media Ria Novosti, as well as to continue discussions on shared agendas between the two countries.
