US, Turkish defense ministers discuss Syria

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Turkish counterpart Yasar Gueler discussed the ongoing situation in Syria during their telephone conversation on Tuesday, the Pentagon reported.

Austin stressed that maintaining "close" coordination is "crucial" to the continued success of the D-ISIS mission.

Earlier today, all rebel militant factions in Syria agreed to unite under the country's defense ministry, with fighters, involved in toppling the Assad regime, now operating under the rule of law within the ministry's framework.
