US, Ukraine discuss Russia's bombardment of Kiev

US Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin on Friday spoke with his counterpart, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, about Russia's latest bombardment of Kiev.

As confirmed by Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the main topic of the "critical" telephone conversation was Russia's relentless aerial bombardment of Ukraine and the evolving dynamics on the battlefield. According to the readout of the conversation, Secretary Austin emphatically reiterated the unwavering commitment of the United States, backed by a coalition of approximately 50 allies and partners, to support Ukraine in its resistance.

Both defense leaders pledged to maintain close communication, reinforcing solidarity and strategic collaboration between the two nations in the midst of the ongoing conflict.
