US adds 31 Chinese firms to export control list

The United States Department of Commerce revealed on Monday that it added 31 Chinese companies to its export control list.

Five companies from the United Arab Emirates, four from Pakistan, three from South Africa, two from the United Kingdom and one from Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand each have also been added to the list.

The department said that most entities were sanctioned today over "providing training to Chinese military pilots using Western and NATO sources," over actions to support China's military modernization and conspiracy to supply Beijing with American military vessels and equipment as well as over enabling human rights abuses in China. Other firms from today's list are accused of helping Pakistan's ballistic missile and other military programs.
