The United States and Qatar came to a "quiet understanding" on the latter country not unfreezing Iranian funds worth $6 billion locked in there, CNB News Chief White House Correspondent Nancy Cordes reported on Thursday.
Moreover, Cordes quoted Punchbowl News, which reported that US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo told the Democratic members of the House of Representatives that the money "isn't going anywhere anytime soon."
The US previously agreed to have Qatar release the Iranian funds frozen there as a part of the latest prisoner exchange with that country. However, it reportedly changed its decision in response to Iran's alleged links to Hamas following that organization's attacks on Israel.
