US appreciates Qatar's effort to supply energy

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday, during a joint conference with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, that Washington appreciates Qatar's effort to help "provide the world with its energy needs."

Blinken noted that the partnership between the two countries is "bilateral, regional and, more recently, global." The US official highlighted the importance of Qatar as a "major non-NATO ally," alongside the latter's work to "mend regional rifts."

Blinken also commended Qatar's "principal stand [it] has taken on Ukraine." Lastly, Blinken shared that the US is "profoundly grateful [for the role] that Qatar has played in securing the release of US citizen Mark Frerichs" from Afghanistan.
