US bans entry of 8 Cuban officials

The United States has issued visa restrictions for eight Cuban officials who cracked down on anti-government protests in the country, the State Department announced in a statement.

These eight individuals were "connected to the detention, sentencing, and imprisonment of peaceful July 11 protesters," the statement read.

Following last year's massive demonstrations, approximately 600 protesters were jailed, with some denied proper food and medicine.
