The United States called on the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua to hear Ukraine's perspective on the war following their meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
During a press conference on Monday, White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby (pictured) responded to Lavrov's tour of Latin America, which started in Brazil and includes visits to the three countries that have tense relationships with the US and are allied with Russia. Kirby acknowledged that the countries are independent and can make their own decisions, but he encouraged their leaders to meet with Ukrainian officials and inquire about the things allegedly done by Russian troops in Ukraine.
Lavrov's tour of Latin America is set to end on Friday.
