Wall Street major indexes closed higher on Thursday keeping the positive trend of the day that impacted technological companies trading in the Nasdaq 100 index. Earlier in the day, market participants received the latest data on jobs that revealed the initial jobless claims for the last week increased less than anticipated to reach 220,000. Meanwhile, the job cuts rose by 24% month on month, although authorities noted that "the labor market appears to be stabilizing."
The Dow Jones increased 0.17% as Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. skyrocketed 7.11%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.48%, with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) soaring 9.84%. AMD also led the gains in S&P 500 which climbed 0.80% at closing.
The euro rose 0.32% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.07966.
