Major stock market indexes in the United States closed higher on Monday after former President Donald Trump, who survived an assassination attempt earlier this month, officially became the Republican Party's nominee in the 2024 election. During business-oriented Trump's previous tenure, the stock markets observed several major rallies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.53% or 211 points as Caterpillar Inc. advanced by 3.03%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.27%, with Grail Inc. jumping by 5.27%. The S&P 500 grew by 0.28% as Exon Enterprise soared by 5.46%.
The euro lost 0.09% to the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.08966.
