US closes higher as tech firms advance

Major stock market indexes in the United States closed higher on Wednesday, pushed by the rises in stock price experienced by Robinhood Markets Inc., Lyft Inc., and Uber Technologies Inc. Investors also awaited the financial results of Cisco Systems Inc., scheduled for later in the day, and Coinbase Global Inc., Dropbox Inc., and DoorDash Inc., planned for Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.39% or 150 points as Salesforce Inc. jumped by 2.85%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 1.18% or 207 points, with Illumina Inc. soaring by 5.23%. The S&P 500 grew by 0.96% as Uber skyrocketed by 14.73%.

The euro went up by 0.20% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.07288.
